About the STUDER A807:

Introduced in 1986, the A807 Professional Analogue Tape Recorder was a worldwide and instant success.
Radio and TV Broadcasters such as the BBC, SRW and SRF considered the STUDER A807 a true work horse and had many of them in daily use.

It’s important to realize the A807 can handle different tape speeds, ranging from 9,5 to 38 cm/sec up to a maximum of 76 cm/sec.
Furthermore, for audiotape collections recorded at very low speed, our service engineer can modify the A807 to run as slow as 2.4 or even 1.2 cm/sec. (15/32 or 15/16 ips).
Equally important, to play legacy radio recordings so called ‘pancakes’ may be required. Pancakes provide support for the tape during playback. We have many of them available, from the 28cm diameter for the mk1, to the 30cm for the mk2 model.

To deliver the best playback quality, our STUDER A807 1/4-inch audio reproducers are equipped with the original STUDER stereo butterfly reproduce heads (model 1.318.636). Moreover, for safety reasons we removed the erase and record heads and replaced them with a so called ‘dummy heads’.

Optionally available: 2-track stereo head block with an original STUDER azimuth corrector, or a 4-channel 1/2-inch A807 (A807 – 0,5 z).
To support your operator team during and increase production efficiency, it’s good to know the STUDER A807 is remote controllable.
